The power of sisterhood is something which we all can easily relate to. This bond both powerful and fragile; shapes us in ways which we do not always foresee. It becomes something which you depend on for security. Reading the Jin-Shei book really highlights the affect friendships which can easily be termed as sisterhood has on the individuals that are part of this unit. Alexander has clearly depicted through the actions perpetuated by her characters how sisterhood is something that is a precious bond which those part of want to preserve and protect, despite the consequences it may incur on the individuals lives. This willingness to help each other even if one’s desire goes against the better judgement/opinions of the rest is yet carried out in name of this sisterhood; thus, clearly demonstrating the power of sisterhood. This is the type of sisterhood which Alexander paints for us and that I think we as readers can relate to as I believe that each of us have at least once in our lives done something that may of gone against our better judgement for a friend in need.
