It was raining hard when Edwin set off to photograph fungi in a forest near his home. “I spotted this toadstool and then noticed the frog,” he said. “I approached very slowly and used a slow shutter speed to show up the rain.” Toadstools can grow very fast. With the help of a little rain, they can reach their full size overnight. Fungi help break down dead organic matter such as leaves and wood, and play an important role in their ecosystem.
